It was established in <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{1990}\">1990<\/span>\u00a0through the merger of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences from Srinakharinwirot University, Phitsanulok Campus, when the latter was elevated to an independent university and officially named &#8220;Naresuan University.&#8221; Therefore, the Faculty of Humanities has a long history, dating back to June <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{28, 1974}\">28, 1974 <\/span>, the day the College of Education was upgraded to Srinakharinwirot University, Phitsanulok Campus, which offered teaching and learning services across the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Physical Education, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Graduate School.<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-456073\" style=\"height: 20px; clear: both; width: 100%;\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-2264345\" style=\"height: 20px; clear: both; width: 100%;\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-912413 kc_text_block\"><h2>1974<\/h2><p>On June <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{28, 1974}\">28, 1974<\/span>\u00a0(<span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{B.E. 2517}\">B.E. 2517<\/span>), the College of Education was elevated to Srinakharinwirot University, Phitsanulok Campus, which offered teaching and learning services comprising the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Physical Education, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Graduate School. Specifically, at the Phitsanulok Campus, the Faculty of Humanities collaborated with the Faculty of Education to be responsible for producing graduates in education through the Bachelor of Education (<span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{B.Ed.}\">B.Ed.<\/span>) program, specializing in Thai and English languages.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-875564\" style=\"height: 20px; clear: both; width: 100%;\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-3967527 kc_text_block\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.citcoms.nu.ac.th\/wordpress-uploads\/Human-uploads\/h2517.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"641\" \/><strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p><h2>1990 &#8211; 1995<\/h2><p>After being elevated to an independent university and officially named Naresuan University, the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences were merged to form the Faculty of Humanities. This faculty initially consisted of <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{11}\">11<\/span>\u00a0departments: the Department of Western Languages, the Department of Thai and Eastern Languages, the Department of Linguistics, the Department of Arts and Culture, the Department of Music, the Department of Library Science, the Department of History, the Department of Geography, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Economics, and the Department of Sociology. Subsequently, the Department of Thai and Eastern Languages was divided into two separate departments: the Department of Thai and the Department of Eastern Languages, resulting in a total of <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{12}\">12<\/span>\u00a0departments. The Department of Eastern Languages offered Japanese and Chinese as minors and free elective courses in preparation for launching Japanese and Chinese as major subjects, which were highly in-demand in the market.<\/p><p>Consequently, the Faculty expanded educational opportunities to Phayao Province, in line with both the university&#8217;s and the government&#8217;s policies, by offering majors in English and Business Management.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-1063358 kc_text_block\"><h2>1996<\/h2><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-2678172 kc_text_block\"><p>The university implemented a policy requiring the Faculty of Humanities to merge departments with similar subject characteristics. As a result, the Faculty of Humanities currently has only <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{5}\">5<\/span>\u00a0departments remaining: the Department of Languages, the Department of Humanities, the Department of Communication, the Department of Social Sciences, and the Department of Commerce.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-3237044\" style=\"height: 20px; clear: both; width: 100%;\">\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-525389 kc_text_block\"><h2>2003<\/h2><p>The University Council passed a resolution to restructure the Faculty of Humanities by abolishing all existing departments, leaving only the Faculty Secretariat Office. Concurrently, three new faculties were established: the Faculty of Management Science and Information Technology, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Social Sciences. For the restructured Faculty of Humanities, operations were conducted under a division structure, comprising a total of <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{10}\">10<\/span>\u00a0divisions: Thai Language, English Language, Japanese Language, Chinese Language, French Language, Burmese Language, Linguistics, Thai Dramatic Arts, Thai Musicology, and Western Musicology.<\/p><h2>2005<\/h2><p>At its <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{120th}\">120<\/span> meeting (<span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{4\/2548}\">4\/2005<\/span>) on September <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{24, 2005}\">24, 2005 (B.E. 2548)<\/span>, the Naresuan University Council approved the administrative structure of the Faculty of Humanities, which consists of <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{1}\">1<\/span>\u00a0Faculty Secretariat Office and <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{4}\">4<\/span>\u00a0departments: the Department of Thai and Folklore Studies, the Department of Western Languages, the Department of Eastern Languages, and the Department of Fine and Applied Arts.<\/p><h2>2012<\/h2><p>The University Council resolved that the Faculty of Humanities shall have the following internal administrative structure: The Faculty Secretariat Office consists of <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{6}\">6<\/span>\u00a0Sections: General Administration, Finance and Supplies, Policy and Planning, Academic Services, Student and Alumni Affairs, and Research and Academic Services. The departments were restructured into <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{9}\">9<\/span>\u00a0departments as follows: Department of Thai Language, Department of Linguistics, Department of Literature and Folklore Studies, Department of English Language, Department of Western Languages, Department of Eastern Languages, Department of Musicology, Department of Performing Arts, and Department of Philosophy and Religion; and the Center for Burmese Studies.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-4147975 kc_text_block\"><h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.citcoms.nu.ac.th\/wordpress-uploads\/Human-uploads\/h2555.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"641\" \/><\/h2><h2>2015<\/h2><p>At its <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{212th}\">212th<\/span> meeting (<span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{10\/2558}\">10\/2015<\/span>) on November <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{1, 2015}\">1, 2015 (B.E. 2558)<\/span>, the resolution was passed to approve the restructuring of the Faculty of Humanities by abolishing the Department of Philosophy and Religion and approving the new structure as follows: <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{1)}\">1)<\/span> Department of Music, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{2)}\">2)<\/span> Department of Western Languages, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{3)}\">3)<\/span> Department of Eastern Languages, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{4)}\">4)<\/span> Department of Thai Language, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{5)}\">5)<\/span> Department of Linguistics, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{6)}\">6)<\/span>\u00a0Department of English Language, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{7)}\">7)<\/span>\u00a0Department of Folklore Studies, Philosophy, and Religion, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{8)}\">8) <\/span>Department of Performing Arts, <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{9)}\">9)<\/span> The Myanmar Language Learning Center, and <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{10)}\">10)<\/span>\u00a0The Faculty Secretariat Office.<\/p><h2>2018<\/h2><p>At its <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{252nd}\">252nd<\/span>\u00a0meeting (<span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{10\/2561}\">10\/2018<\/span>) on September <span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{23, 2018}\">23, 2018<\/span>\u00a0(<span class=\"math-inline\" data-math=\"\\text{B.E. 2561}\">B.E. 2561<\/span>), the resolution was passed to approve the restructuring of the departmental-level units within the Faculty of Humanities as follows: <span class=\"math-inline\"
